life just got a little easier...

Last night I discovered the greatest thing...Talan can hold his own bottle and I can walk away and get things done while he feeds himself!!! Life just got a little easier. I can lay Talan's highchair back just a little bit and he holds the bottle by himself but the tray on the highchair supports the bottle just enough so it doesn't fall on the ground! YAY!!! This morning I tried it again while I made breakfast and.....score! It worked again!!!We went Jerry's birthday party today....when I got Talan dressed and put him in his car seat (which he is just about too big for) he just looked like such a big boy to me....how did he get so big? and when did we get from this.... to this???....again tonight as I was going through the pictures I saw this one of Talan in his stroller and can't believe how big he has gotten....Trey had a blast playing with Jerry all afternoon...
But the most memorable part of the party was during the pinata...Talan was in his stroller watching all the action and we were watching Trey get the candy that had fallen...one of the dads was standing off to the side with the extra candy throwing it up in the air to the kids that weren't getting candy right under the pinata. Then I heard everyone laughing and making a big fuss around Talan. I looked back at him and he had a Milky Way bar in his hand.
Javi's cousin Rudy was standing right next to him and said he reached out and caught the candy bar in the air!!! I was like "No way someone gave that to him", and he said "no seriously he caught it all by himself!!!" and they were saying how it was too bad no one was video taping bc it could have been on America's Funniest Home videos...I can't believe I missed it!!!!

My boys

I took some cute pictures of the boys in the bathtub tonight...
We took Trey to Toys R US to use a gift card he got from NANA...he got 2 more transformers (we have to have them all by now....or at least pretty darn close to it) and he also got a soap molding set so he wanted to come home and take a bath right away. The soap toy was a waste of money...so if you're reading this and you ever get the urge to buy it for your kids....DON'T!!!
Here is what Trey's eye is looking like today.
The swelling has gone down and now his bruise is turning kinda yellow. Rylee came over last night to see Trey and give him a Get Well card she made for him. Remember she was with Trey when he fell.....when she last saw him right after the accident, he only had the cuts and his head hadn't even started to swell yet...so when she saw him 2 days later (when his eye was swollen completely shut) Vanessa said she was so upset. She asked Vanessa "is his face going to go back to normal?" The get well card and note she made for him was so cute. We hung it on the wall next to his bed!

Day 2...looking real bad

Trey woke up this morning in a panic because he couldn't open his eye...AT ALL!!! It broke our hearts to see him cry because he couldn't get it open. He even tried to pry it open it with his fingers. I literally left the house in tears feeling like a horrible mom leaving my baby so sad! Javi took Trey to school with all 3 of his ice packs and Cheryl (the boys babysitter/teacher) is awesome..she got Trey to keep ice on it for 15 minutes every hour...that's pretty good for a 4 year old! When I picked him up from school it looked so much better...he was pretty excited to be able to open and see out of his eye. Tonight we took the band aids off to clean it up a little and the cuts don't look so bad....And even with this awful black eye that looks so terrible and painful.....Trey is still smiling!!!

BIG TIME BOO BOO

Last night I had my first heart failure...big time injury with Trey. I have always wondered what I would do and how I would react when I saw a major injury with one of my kids and last night ...unfortunately I found out just what that was like....not fun! I was in the garage working out with my neighbor Vanessa...Trey was riding down the driveway(our driveway is kinda steep) on a little john Deere toddler toy with his feet up. He was playing with Vanessa's daughter Rilee. All of a sudden Vanessa said "Trey is crying...that doesn't sound good!" I was laying face down doing hamstring curls so I jumped up and as I was running down the driveway Trey was walking towards me with blood pouring down the front of him. He saw the blood on his shirt and hands and that really freaked him out even more I think. So what happened? He was riding down the driveway and hit a rock and flipped forward over the car and landed head first in the street. I picked him up and ran him into the house, grabbed a towel and put pressure on his head. It really scared me because his forehead looked indented to me, Vanessa thought so too. I got the bleeding to stop after just a few minutes....apparently the head is the worst when it comes to the amount of bleeding...I'd have to agree with that one. Here's Trey's shirt after the fact....ironically I had put this shirt on him earlier b/c he wanted to paint so I found this old shirt that I didn't care about in case he ruined it with paint.... The best comparison I can think of is it looked like it was pouring out like a chocolate fondue fountain!!! SO SCARY!!! We got Trey cleaned up and put ice on his head and within 30 mins, it looked like he had an egg under his skin! I decided to call the 24 hour nurse hotline on our insurance just to see what their advice was. She had me call my pediatrician who's office was closed obviously and the recording gave me another number to call for medical advice. The nurse called me back and said I should definitely take him to the ER. To make sure he didn't have a skull fracture (since it was initially indented) and to make sure it was properly cleaned out in case there were any rocks in the cuts. So at 8:30 pm, Trey and I were off to TMC's pediatric ER while Javi stayed home with Talan who was already in bed. We spent 5 hours in the ER (which is quite an experience just watching and listening to the crazy people in there) and got home at 1:30 in the morning. Trey didn't have a concussion, didn't need stitches, and there were no rocks in the wounds. He was such a brave little guy...I am so proud of him!!! While we were in the room taking the xray to see if there were any rocks, Trey said the cutest thing to me. He wanted to see the xray after they took it and when I showed him on the computer screen where the radiologist was reading it...he said to me " Why aren't my curls on there?" He is so cute!!! Today his eye looks much worse because his eye is almost swollen completely shut! We had to put band aids on it last night b/c he was so concerned about getting "BLEED" (that's what he calls blood) on his bed sheets and pillow. Thank goodness he is okay...but he gave me the scare that I was dreading...and it breaks my heart to look at this sweet little face!

Trey's 4 year old check up...

I was reading Kristen's blog and I realized I forgot to mention Trey's 4 year old check up which was 2 weeks ago....I was so worried (but I tried not to show it) since he was going to be getting 3 shots!!! He has been really great going to the doctor and holding Talan's hand through all of his baby shots but this time it was Trey's turn and I didn't quite know how he was going to react. The doctor had told me at Talan's previous visit to "get Trey prepared" for his visit...but I didn't know exactly how to do that. So I told Trey that he was going to be getting some shots and that before the appointment we could stop at the store and he could pick out whatever band aids he wanted. I thought this would distract him right after the pricks. He picked out Transformer band aids...of course! So he did cry when he got pricked but he was a pretty brave little boy! In the car on the way home I said to him, "You have to tell daddy all about your visit at the doctor." and he said to me "No mommy not everything" and I said "Why not?" and he said, "Remember? THE CRYING PART!!!" I guess he didn't want daddy to know that he cried! Little does he know that if daddy was there he would have probably cried even harder than Trey!

By the way...Trey failed his eye exam so now we have an appointment with a pediatric optamologist in March...Javi and I both have bad eyes so I was expecting this....we'll see how it goes and I'll keep you posted on the eye thing!

softball saturday

Let me start by saying that I know I'm way behind with my blogging and I haven't even posted anything from our Miami trip and it really bothers me but if I don't continue to keep up with our activities...it might get really bad! So yesterday Javi played in a softball tournament for work. It was between the Tucson branch and the Casa Grande branch so they met halfway and played in Marana. We left the house at 8am prepared to spend the day watching daddy play softball. When we got to the park it was FREEZING!!!! But the high for the day was 82 so it was hard to figure out how to dress everyone! When we pulled into the parking lot, Trey was in HEAVEN when he saw this....
I was trying to get Trey to go on this big slide but he wouldn't....he takes after his daddy (scared of heights) definitely not his mommy! They were both so well behaved all day...Talan just rolled around on the blanket...and in the grass...laughing and talking up a storm. He is such an easy baby!

I was really so busy watching the boys and the other kids that were running around that I didn't get to watch much of the games. After the game Javi came up to me and asked "did you see my 3 homeruns?" I was like, "OOPS...no I didn't....I'm sorry!" How awful of me? He hit 3 homeruns out of the park and I didn't even see one of them! After a long day at the park...I realized how sunburn I was feeling and then I noticed this....
ouch poor Talan! Don't worry the beer was empty but everyone there obviously thought this was funny! Trey didn't get burned because he was playing on the playground which had a huge shade tarp over it...thank goodness! I always carry sunblock in my diaper bag too but I had just taken it out last week when we flew to Miami because of the whole liquid restriction thing on the airplanes...I guess I need to put it back in the diaper bag now...ya think?!?

what a cutie

I am so behind with my blogging...sorry to those of you who keep checking only to find no new updates! We were in Miami last week so I have lots to blog about but I am not prepared to spend the time writing and uploading pictures from our trip. So it's gonna have to wait a few more days until I'm caught up with everything else...but for now here is a cute video of Talan laughing tonight...he's such a cutie!!!

Talan is 7 months old

Talan turned 7 months old yesterday and I realized it half way through my day right in the middle of cleaning a patient's teeth. Then of course I was so busy when I got home that I totally forgot to blog about it. So today when I came home I wanted to take some pictures of Talan sitting up....he's been doing it a little bit lately but you have to have him on a bed because he gets excited and throws himself back! Tonight apparently he wasn't in the mood to sit up bc I sat him on Trey's bed and....
he went down to the right! So I sat him back up and....
down he went to the left! So I sat him up again and....
he leaned a little too far forward and kinda flipped himself on his belly so... I finally gave up and decided to prop a pillow behind him.
Any day now he should be ready to sit up totally on his own....today was just a bad day. I can honestly say that Talan is never grouchy but tonight he didn't seem like himself...although still not grouchy. He had really runny, goopy and kinda red eyes! We have to go to the doctor tomorrow morning for Trey's 4 year check up and shots (Yikes...I'm scared) so I'm gonna ask her about Talan's eyes too. I hope he doesn't have pink eye!

the house divided

First of all let me say I am sad for the Cardinals losing the Superbowl! Javi has always been a Steelers fan and he was the only one (besides Talan) who was cheering for them at our Superbowl party tonight! So we had just one fan who was happy with the outcome of the game...and we didn't even win any money in our Superbowl pool. =(
I took some pictures of Talan before the game. I put Trey's old Steelers jersey on him...it's 2T by the way...Trey was busy playing with all the kids that came over so didn't get a picture of him tonight.

"4 year olds are big boys"...

The other day while we were out shopping Trey wanted to walk beside me holding on to the stroller instead of sitting in it. He said to me "4 year olds are big boys and they are good boys too" I have to say he was right...he was such a little angel while I dragged him around in and out of stores while I looked for a new lamp! He is all about being 4 years old now!

So here is a little video of him being my big helper and feeding Talan his cereal this morning....he's getting pretty good at it...notice in the video how he cleans his mouth with the spoon.

In the decorating mood

On Friday while I was out and about, I needed to find a new lamp for our living room bc the one we had in there unscrewed and fell apart. So while I was searching through the home sections of a few stores, Target, Ross, Marshalls and my favorite of them all....Kirkland's home...I totally wanted to buy everything! Not so much to RE decorate but to just add some little accents here and there. Anyways I found a lamp at Kirkland's for only $7....what a deal (see why I love that store so much?!?) At Target I found a cute wall quote on clearance. Vanessa came over Friday night and helped me put it up and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how it came out...
Then Saturday Javi and I spent the whole day cleaning the house...I decided to totally rearrange Trey's room and it not only looks so much better but I gave me the opportunity to really clean behind the furniture (which it totally needed). So the house is clean, looks great, smells great and I love it! Now I'm thinking I want a new comforter set for our bedroom...
