a night of tattoos....

last night we all got an itch to go and get tattoos...but when we got to the place that Javi's cousin recommended, the guy didn't have time to do all of us so we made an appointment and went back today at 4pm.....I went first and got this cluster of stars on my foot ( i have always wanted a tattoo on the top of my foot but didn't want to get just any tattoo...I wanted it to have a special meaning.... each star represents one of our birthstones. Javi is green(emerald), I am light blue (aquamarine), Trey is red (garnet) and Talan is fuchsia (ruby)...I love it!!!! (don't mind my dirty flip flop)
I must say...it hurt quite a bit (can you tell by the nice facial expression here) but the guy was pretty quick so it wasn't THAT bad!
Javi got his first tattoo and I was really shocked that he actually went through with it...considering how scared he is of needles! He insisted that he get a space on the scroll to put a third name just in case we have another baby...he wants 3 kids but I'm not sure...now I guess he made it official...LOL!!! Susan got a cross on her back.....
Breanna went last...hers looked pretty painful too bc it was right on her spine....she got a Pisces sign for her son Jerry

and Clarissa got her tattoo last night (which is kinda what started the whole idea) she went to a different tattoo shop though...she got the same tattoo as her dad and it represents the 2 of them....she came tonight with all of us...for moral support!so that's it...our night of tattoos! It was alot of fun...but now I'm really tired and I have to go to bed....

a white (day after) Christmas

It snowed in Tucson....and it REALLY snowed in Corona de Tucson today!(that's where we live and it is higher up in the mountains than the city). We were possibly expecting snow today for elevations above 3500 feet (we are very close to that). So this morning when we were eating breakfast, it was raining and all of a sudden I noticed that the rain was really thick and icy on the windows...about 20 minutes later it stared to look a little bit like snow and then....it was definitely snow......so everyone ran and got dressed to go outside and play in it...Here's Javi, Trey and some of the kids in the neighborhood that came out to play in the snow...
Javi and Susan took Trey to the park behind our house to build a snowman since there is grass at the park, we thought it was be thicker there....and it was
Trey made a snow angel....too cute!!!!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to everyone!!! I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a fun time with their family, kids and friends! And to my family...I wish we could all be together but this is the closest thing....I have been so excited about Christmas this year because of Trey. Last night I couldn't fall asleep just like when I was a kid because I was so excited to wake up to see Trey's reaction to all of his presents from Santa! He got everything he wanted and asked for from Santa....and then some.....
he got a Transformers Bumblebee bicycle...

a voice changing Optimus Prime Helmet...Way cool
a Bakugan arena with Bakugans....and lots of other fun stuff.
Talan had a blast too. He loved watching and hearing Trey rip open the wrapping paper.

My Christmas PJ project

This is the second year that I made matching PJ pants for Javi, Trey and I to wear on Christmas Eve. Only last year I cheated a little (since I was suffering from 1st trimester morning sickness and ickyness) and I bought 3 pairs of adult pj pants and just cut one pair and made Trey's child size. This year I made all 3 of our pants and although it was just another thing to add to the stress of everything else I needed to get done before Christmas, I am happy with my finished products. And pretty proud of myself I must say since I consider myself to be very much a Rookie when it comes to sewing. I want to make this an every year Christmas tradition.....let's see how long I can keep it going. Next year I will make a pair for Talan too (they didn't have a pattern small enough for him)

making tamales

Javi's Nana came over today to show us how to make Tamales. Javi took her to the store last week so she could show us what we needed to buy:
15 lbs of Tamale Meat
20 lbs of Masa (corn dough)
3 bags of Ojas (corn husks)
1 Giant jar of spanish olives
1 lb chili powder
1 gallon can of chili paste
3 cloves of garlic
6 lbs of manteca (lard).....can you say "clogged arteries"?!?

we all helped...

check out the size of these bowls!!!
even our neighbor Pablo came over and helped. It's alot of work but it didn't seem too bad since there was so much help.
We are still cooking them so I don't have a final count but I would say we made about 20 dozen....that's a lot of Tamales!!! Yummy!!!Trey decorated some sugar cookies for Santa while we were making Tamales...I looked over at him and he was taking bites out of all the cookies while he decorated them! I guess he just wanted to make sure they were okay for Santa to eat!
and Talan just hung out in the kitchen with us watching all the action

decorating the house for christmas

Tuesday night Javi got all the Christmas stuff down from the attic for me.
Trey was so excited to find his Santa hat in one of the boxes....he said "Is that MY santa hat? Who got it for me?"Then he "pretended" to drive the sled around the house! And took so really cute pictures I must say....
arms up!!! it's a roller coaster sleigh ride with Frosty!I was feeling like I was behind getting our decorations up and then once we got everything down and spread out throughout the house...I was so stressed out with all the clutter and mess everywhere! It took us all week to get everything set up and put away and now I feel so much better and I'm enjoying all of our holiday decor! One of my biggest stresses was trying to figure out where I could set up my village without it being so crowded in the house with an extra table to put the village on. So Javi said I should set it up on the kitchen counter top next to our fridge...I was like "no way!.....I need my counter space" But yesterday I decided maybe it wouldn't be so bad....so I tried it.....
it's actually the perfect place for it!!! I love how it turned out...and of course I still haven't heard the end of it being his idea that I totally said no to at first!!! It looks great Javi, thanks for the idea...and yes....you were right!!! =)

and with the lights off so you can get the full effect of the lights in the village! (by the way, this is only half of my village)

Here is a picture of the fireplace...it turned out cute too....

and again with the lights off...I just realized I forgot to take a picture of the most important part....THE TREE!!! So I'll post it later.....

Talan is 5 months old

Talan turned 5 months old yesterday. When we went to the doctor for his 4 month check up, she told me that I could start feeding Talan baby food at 5 months old. So today we gave it a try....first up...SQUASH
and he LOVED it...by the way...I don't think eating is ever going to be a concern with this little boy! He is quite the little piglet!

So much catching up to do.....

I am so behind on my blogging! I have been so busy with Thanksgiving, Black Friday shopping, Talan's Baptism on Saturday and pictures with Santa on Sunday. So here is a quick look back at this past weekend.
We had Thanksgiving dinner here at our house. Javi's mom and sister are here visiting with us. It was a nice, simple and cozy little Thanksgiving dinner!

Talan ate his first real food...mashed potatoes....yummy!
Here is a video of Trey singing a cute Thanksgiving song he learned at school...
Then Maria and I were out and about Friday morning at 5am for Black Friday sales....we shopped till we dropped...literally!!!
Saturday was Talan's Baptism. We had a little private ceremony at our church and then everyone came back to our house afterwards for lunch.
Talan and his godparents...Curtis and EricaSunday we just bummed around most of the morning and then around 3pm we got dressed and headed to the mall to take pictures with Santa. Trey wrote a letter to Santa in the car on the way to the mall. So cute!
I have a brief (well I'll try to make it brief) story about Santa. My friend Kristen took the cutest pictures of her kids with Santa at picture people where she lives in Houston....so I called our picture people where I always take the boys and our Santa that was supposed to be here in Tucson, had a heart attack! Poor Santa.....and no cute photo shoot with the boys...oh well! Then yesterday when we took them to take pictures with Santa in the mall.....we specifically went to Park Place Mall because they have this whole cute set up called "Santastic" that the kids walk through and they do really cute little things and take lots of pictures of them. We did it last year and the Santa was so cute and we got great pictures with him and Trey! So we did it again this year and to be honest I was a little disappointed....I didn't think the Santa was very cute and the whole thing was kinda rushed unlike last year! Then tonight I was reading Kristen's blog and I find out the the original Santa from "Santastic" in the mall, died on Saturday!!! What a tragedy! No wonder it wasn't quite the same...I'm sure everyone there was still a little shaken up about the whole thing!!!
The pictures came out cute at least....

Such a busy long weekend and then I was all stressed out at work today listening to Christmas music on the radio all day thinking how this is the first year that I don't have my Christmas decorations up the weekend after Thanksgiving.....Javi promised to get them all down from the attic tomorrow! Pictures to come.....
