our 6th anniversary

Javi and I celebrated our 6th anniversary on Sunday (Dec. 20th). We always discuss going on a little getaway, just the two of us, but since it's so close to Christmas, we always end up talking ourselves out of going on a trip (or I talk us out of it I should say). This year, I decided no matter what....we were gonna go away for the weekend!!! Javi wanted to go to Los Angeles...so that's what we did...and it was a blast! We stayed in the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa. that's our hotel sticking up in the back right but to get into the hotel, you have to walk through this entire shopping plaza. It was awesome!!! There was a forever 21 and a DSW (and tons of other shops) right on the corner! The hotel was in a great location too. Right on Hollywood Blvd.

We checked in about 8pm Friday night and Javi wanted to go to a sushi restaurant called Katsuya. When we got there, there were 3 paparazzi outside waiting with big cameras. We didn't see who was inside that they were waiting for but Javi saw someone leave with his head down and all you could see were camera flashes going crazy!!! We never found out who it was...but the food was AMAZING and the experience was great too. The Survivor finale was Sunday night at the Kodak theater ( just down the street from out hotel) so the whole cast was staying at the hotel. Javi is a HUGE survivor fan and his first "celebrity siting" as soon as we pulled up was Shambo from the show (she was voted off the night before). He was really excited!

One thing that we both wanted to do is go to Calabasas where the Kardashians live, film their show (which we both LOVE to watch) and have their store DASH...so we got up early Saturday morning and headed there...here is the sign from the show! It's funny bc everything that appears so HUGE on the show is really just small and no big deal. I missed this sign the first time we drove by...and I had my camera ready and everything! We got there at 9am and had to wait until 11 for the stores (Dash and Smooch) to open. While we waited, we went to a farmers market they were having in town and to another shopping strip mall with some really cute little boutiques. I bought 2 really cute shirts at one of them. We drove back at 11:10 and they still hadn't opened. We waited a little while longer and finally, someone came and unlocked the store. It's really cool to be inside after seeing it on the show. By the way, the girl that unlocked the door and worked there was the same girl that works there on the show! I act like she's a star too...LOL!!! I couldn't afford anything inside, since a pair of pants was $430 and a bottle of water with the girls picture on it was $15!!! Here I am, outside of Dash...REALLY excited...can you tell? (by the way, this is my favorite picture from the whole trip...except the one of me and Javi of course...)

After that, we drove to Santa Monica and went to the Santa Monica pier...

After that, we went to eat some more sushi. At a place called Sushi Dan that was recommended to us by someone that lives there. It was delicious!!! We are gonna have a really hard time eating sushi in Tucson after this weekend I think...

this was only a small portion of what we ordered!

We drove through Beverly Hills..

and Rodeo Drive...

we went to LA Ink...but Kat wasn't there.

Then we went back to the hotel to get ready for our dinner reservations at 8:30 at Flemings. We have gone to this restaurant every year (except our first) to celebrate our anniversary...it's our tradition. So we decided to keep it going in LA too...

the restaurant is at LA Live downtown and it was beautiful all decorated for Christmas...

There were a lot of different characters along Hollywood Blvd...Javi had to take a picture with Bumblebee for Trey!

This is the view of the Hollywood hills from our hotel.

I took a picture through the telescope.

We had a great time together in LA...a much needed little break...just the two of us! I can't believe it's been 6 years already! I'ml looking forward to at least 60 more....

simply adorable

Javi introduced Trey to a Root Beer Float a few months ago and he loves them!!! Occasionally after dinner, he will ask Javi to make him one. Last night he asked for one and of course......the little copy cat (that would be Talan) wanted to try it too! Javi grabbed the camera and captured this adorable moment!!! I love these pictures....

Fruits of my labor...

We have been waiting for almost 3 years now for fruit on our lemon and grapefruit trees that we planted when we first moved into our house (we would have a lime tree too but Zoe ate it a couple of years ago!). This summer we noticed some blossoms on out lemon tree....and a few weeks later, they actually turned into little green balls that were baby lemons! (I just spent 15 minutes looking through all the pictures on my computer and couldn't find the pictures I took when they were baby lemons...darn it...I know I took pictures of them!) Anyway...all summer and fall I was wondering if the tree we bought was mislabeled and we actually had a lime tree bc the fruit was not turning yellow...I was wondering how long this process takes?!? Well....we finally have yellow lemons!!!!

and on my little grapefruit tree...there are 5 grapefruits (that took just as long to ripen). They are so heavy for the little tree that they are actually sitting on the ground, but still attached to the tree! I picked the first grapefruit tonight and held my breath while I cut into it....and......

OMG YUM!!! I got the most ripe and juicy grapefruit ever!!! I am so excited!!!! What an accomplishment....and I really didn't even do anything! LOL!!!

apples

Ok so I am totally feeling major guilt bc I am so behind on my blogging! So here is a little something before I go to bed...
On Saturday, Trey asked me for an apple for him and Talan. Friday we caught Talan enjoying the left overs of Trey's already eaten apple core so Trey knew how much his brother would want an apple too! So I washed two apples, sat them on the couch and look how darn cute.....

I knew Trey loved eating a whole apple (which he calls a "circle apple") but I can not believe that my LITTLE BABY Talan can already eat a whole apple!!!

By the way...that's not all that Talan ate on Saturday morning...

Yep, that would be blue marker on his tongue!!! Need I say more about the little monster!?!

Trey says "He didn't eat the marker, he colored on his tongue"! Notice how proud Talan is to show me his beautifully colored tongue? Sigh.....he's gonna be trouble!!!

turkey cookies

I saw this cute cookie idea in the Sunday coupon adds and thought I would give my Martha Stewart, crafty, cute, baking another try.....
and although I almost burnt the sugar cookies...the little turkeys came out pretty cute. The only problem is that I can't cover them now that they are all arranged on the platters because the icing will smear...which means, I hope the kids like REALLY hard, almost burnt and sat out all night sugar cookies. They sure are cute though!!!

OH YUM

Today Javi and I were deciding what we should have for dinner...he wanted to grill something and I thought steak and shrimp sounded really good. So he looked through our cookbooks, found a recipe and I went to the store to get what we needed to make it. Javi grilled NY Strip steaks andBrazilian Coconut Shrimp Kebabs
and I made the yummiest Avocado Salad ever....

silly mood

Trey was in a REALLY silly mood the other day...and I caught some of it on video! Unfortunately I can't seem to remember that I'm not supposed to hold the camera vertically when I am recording. I don't know how many times it's gonna take before I get it right.

Awww just look at how cute these brothers are together and they get along so well....haha this is a rare moment when they are sitting next to each other, both smiling and one of them isn't making the other one cry. Tonight Trey was minding his own business, sitting on the couch playing games on my laptop and all of a sudden he started crying really hard! I ran over to him to see what was the matter and he told me that Talan threw his DSI at him and hit him in the head!!! I know you're probably thinking, "poor Trey" but earlier I watched Trey get mad at Talan because he was "messing up his fort" so he smashed him under the wall of the fort (Talan cried) and then started hitting Talan with his cold pillow. It's non-stop with these boys....the scary part is that I have MANY MANY more years of this to come...and as they get older....I'm sure it's gonna get worse. But at the end of the day, they LOVE and ADORE each other! Last night we heard Trey telling Talan (while they were playing with Trey's Ninja Turtle Van, "That's a van Talan, can you say van?"...moments like that just melt my heart!!!

Trey LOVES MJ

Have I mentioned before how much Trey loves to listen to Michael Jackson music? Well the other day, I walked by his room and found him doing this.....

He was laying on his toy box listening to his Michael Jackson CD and he fell asleep there!!! He must have just barely fallen asleep bc when I went to get my camera and Javi and came back, he was moving around a little bit. I asked him if he wanted me to plant a little garden outside of his bedroom window so he could sit on his toy box, listening to MJ and looking out the window like a little old Nana...and he said YES!!! I was just trying to be funny so it made me laugh that he really wanted me to do it!

little slugger...

We finally made it to another one of Trey's baseball games this season...after everyone being sick, this is only the second game out of 7 games that we've made it to! Trey did really good Saturday!!! One of the dad's was saying "For such a little guy, he sure can swing that bat!" (by the way that is Javi's Tia Dee laughing in the background...she came to Trey's game and was a great cheering section for him!!!)

In this video, he doesn't hit the ball but look at his swing...and notice how he is just chomping away on his gum! Such a little ball player...he is so cute!!!

He is hitting really good...but now we need to get him to pay attention in the field!

Talan is ready to play too....

He has such a good time, but it's quite a chore at practices and the game today, for me to keep him away from the bats! He loves to walk around with the bat in his hand.

too funny

Tonight Javi and I laughed so hard at our little monster...that would be Talan! I was clearing the table after dinner into the garbage can and I said to Javi, "You have to really watch Talan bc I caught him putting stuff (Trey's bakugan and some other toys) in the garbage can yesterday." Javi stayed home from work today to help me with the boys while I stayed in bed all day sick with the flu (which I TOTALLY appreciate and LOVE him for)...so I thought he needed to know this since he was watching Talan. So as I was telling Javi this, I opened the garbage can and sure enough, he had just that quickly put his toothbrush and a little toy penguin in there! Then Javi said "I hope he didn't throw his Croc away then bc he was walking around with one of them this morning and tonight when I went to take the boys outside, I couldn't find the other Croc anywhere" I said "oh yeah I bet he did then" Javi took the garbage out this morning since it was garbage day so if Talan did throw the croc away...Javi said "it's long gone now". So I figured I would check the garbage just in case to see what else he might have thrown away today, and this is what I found inside... We laughed so hard!!! So now I guess I have to try to find a baby safety thingy for our garbage can. They make them for the toilet, surely I can find something for the garbage can right? I wonder what else he has thrown away that we have no idea about!?!

So while I was in bed today, Javi got some cute pictures of Talan playing in Trey's room. Here he is trying to get himself inside Trey's Handy Manny truck...just look at his hilarious face!!!
And while I'm on a roll blogging...I'll add these pictures of the boys playing in the pantry with the toilet paper and paper towels. It's their favorite thing to do! I have a huge mess everyday in there but hey...it keeps them busy for a while and its harmless, so I'm not gonna complain! But I did catch the little monster in action so you can see for yourself how "dare-devilish" he is and how I am going to have my hands full with him... And my cute little innocent Trey..
